DESCRIPTION

This workshop introduces a dynamic role-playing game designed to foster transdisciplinary collaboration skills and explore different perspectives. This immersive method will help participants understand the importance of social engagement, a crucial element that harbors collaborative and co-creation success. The need for transdisciplinary collaboration and co-creation when attempting to solve complex problems is widely known in (academic and professional) communities. However, effective collaboration and co-creation become challenging when there is a multitude of actors with different needs and languages.

In the workshop, participants simulate a transdisciplinary collaboration to develop a building project. Since everyone has a different role, different enablers and different goals but they are building the same structure together, they will learn during the course of the game that social engagement to drive real impact (making a successful structure) is rooted in emphatic listening, creating shared understanding and the ability to compromise. This workshop is a hands-on tool that very directly puts the theme of this conference in practice.

After the workshop, the participants will receive the skills and guidelines needed to re-create the workshop in their own workplace.
